Blaine Pollock: Alpha Project

Christmas Spirit Shines Through With WHEOF And Blaine Pollock’s $10,000 Gift To San Diego’s Alpha Project.

Founded in 1986 as a simple project offering work opportunities for homeless men, today the Alpha Project operates numerous programs serving over 2,000 people daily.  The mission of the Alpha Project is to empower individuals, families and communities by providing work, recovery and support services to people who are motivated to change their lives and achieve self-sufficiency.  The Alpha Project strives to end homelessness for its clients by offering jobs, along with empowerment and permanent independence through education, employment, sobriety and stability.  Recognized nationally by President George Bush as the country’s 185th Point of Light, Alpha Project empowers its clients to take personal responsibility for solving problems.

Their programs include: a 140 bed residential treatment program for homeless men; 193 units of permanent housing for low-income, homeless adults with special needs; over 600 units of affordable housing for very low-income families and seniors; 200 beds of emergency winter shelter for homeless adults; and job training and supportive employment to homeless individuals.
