WHEOF Staff Participates in San Diego Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon and Receive Blaine Pollock’s Encouragement and Support.
On Sunday June 6th 2010, WHEOF employees; Jarred Pierce- VP of Managed Care and Candace Pollock- Data Analyst participated in The 13th Annual Rock ‘n’ Roll half marathon in San Diego.
This marathon has been one of the signature events of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) charity sports training program. This year LLS became the exclusive charity of the renamed Rock ‘N’ Roll San Diego Marathon to benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Over 30,000 runners participated in the Rock ‘n’ Roll San Diego Marathon and Half Marathon to Benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Sunday.
The LLS is the world’s largest voluntary health agency dedicated to blood cancer and has a very important mission to one day find cures for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma. The Leukemia & Lymphoma society finances lifesaving blood cancer research around the world and provides free information and support services. Not only did WHEOF help to raise funds for this amazing charity, but Jarred Pierce, our VP of Managed Care ran in honor of his 16 year old cousin that recently passed away from a similar type of cancer.
His family and friends gathered together to run in his name and raise funds for “The Quin Murphy Scholarship Fund.” The family of Quin Murphy gave the first scholarship in June to a deserving young athlete that is going to college, a young athlete that encompasses Quin’s passion for sports and for life. After the marathon, hundreds of participants and family gathered to raise money for this fund through raffles, a silent auction and donations.
WHEOF was happy to participate in such a wonderful mission to help find a cure for Leukemia & Lymphoma and we look forward to our next endeavor.
